Hi ladies! I’m finally getting around to sharing my BFP story and I’m hoping my experience can offer some help to you during your two week wait as much as it helped me! A little background info: I’m 32 years old and had been on birth control since high school...so for about 16 years—namely the patch. I was told that I would be able to start trying immediately after getting off of it. Having been on BC for so long, I never knew what my regular cycle would be like. It took about 3 months of irregular cycles before it started to become the textbook example of 28 days. My husband and I have been TTC for about 6 months before getting our BFP. Here’s my timeline below:
During ovulation week (confirmed with strips and temping), we BD’ed 4x and used pre-seed lube twice.
1DPO: ovulation strip showed low LH, elevated temp confirmed O
2DPO: mood was happy, cramps, sex drive increase, pelvic pain
3DPO: no symptoms, temp stayed high
4DPO: headaches, cramps, brown spotting
5DPO: pink spotting
6DPO: brown spotting, growling stomach in AM. Hungry 2 hours after lunch. Sharp twinge on left boob, hungry throughout the day, tongue feels dry and thirsty all day. Frequent peeing, moody, cried
7DPO: brown spotting, woke up and couldn’t fall back asleep at 5:00am, frequent peeing
8DPO: pink spotting, nausea
9DPO: brown spotting, vivid dream last night - dreamt there were many cats and one jumped up to bite me
10DPO: brown spotting, vivid dream of friend cooking tempura and of girls weekend away. Took a test, BFN
11DPO: more spotting, glue-like CM
12DPO: temp remained high, took a test and got a BFP!! Cramps, nausea
13DPO: temp remained high
14DPO: missed period
I had 8 straight days of spotting before getting my BFP. I was worried the entire time that my period was coming. I did so much research of it possibly being implantation bleeding, but so many forums didn’t think it would last that many days if it was. Don’t lose hope because it was for me!
Baby’s heartbeat was confirmed at 7 weeks gestation. I’m now 18 weeks along, expecting a baby boy right around Thanksgiving, just in time of the holidays!
