I have read so many of these “BFP symptoms by DPO” stories that I promised myself if I got pregnant one day, I would post mine for others to read. Well, I got a BFP three times, but two resulted in miscarriages and the last one was a rainbow baby but I was a nervous wreck about it, so never got around to write my story. Furthermore, I believe that any symptoms that show up before a missed period/BFP are totally coincidental. I had symptomless TWWs where I ended up getting a BFP and I had everything under the sun, including nausea, that ended up being a BFN.
Anyways, I just got my BFP half an hour ago. I am still in total shock! Here’s my journey this past month:
I have been ovulating around CD 17 and having short luteal phases. Also I don’t always get a positive OPK, although I seem to ovulate based on BBTs. Last month I didn’t have a very short luteal phase and seeing AF on 14dpo made me happy, even though I hate to see her at all. I went ahead and ordered over the counter progesterone cream so as to extend my luteal phase and not have a period before a potentially fertilized egg has a chance to implant. I also started using Vitamin B6 in addition to my regular prenatal vitamin, Omega 3, and Vitamin D. I also bought vitex/chasteberry but couldn't use it and I occasionally drink raspberry leaf tea.
CD13: Strong pain in left ovary. I am certain I ovulated. I worry because we did not BD for a couple of days. (Because honestly, it gets too much to try to do it every day until that OPK smiles, so we were going to start around CD 14 or 15). Did not get to BD until the evening.
CD 15: Felt something on left ovary.
CD 16: BBT spike (I have not been able to sleep and wake at regular times, so my BBTs are a little unreliable, but this is an obvious spike). Even though, I have been getting negative OPKs. I go the bathroom, and get a positive OPK. I thought this is supposed to be a heads up--you ovulate within the next 24 hrs after the positive OPK. In fact, 24 hrs after the peak OPK, not after first positive, but this was so dark that I didn’t test in the following days, this must have been my peak. So, I don’t know if I ovulated on CD 16 or CD 17. (didn’t get to BD on CD 16 or 17, so I hoped that I ovulated on 16 already). But my temps stated high after this.
CD 17: Feeling cold all day, but didn’t actually catch a cold.
1-4dpo: nothing
5dpo: Started using progesterone cream (supposed to use after ovulation, but my order only arrived today). The pump took out too much and I used most of it, but didn’t really want to use so much since it’s not monitored by my doctor. And I didn’t want to have any of the adverse effects like increasing estrogen.
6dpo: Temp spike 0.3 degrees (probably due to progesterone cream. I used much less in the coming days, but used it regularly every evening).
7dpo: Increased cervical fluid
8dpo: Increased cervical fluid
10dpo: Temp spike (even though I have been using progesterone consistently and the same small amount, and even though I woke up earlier than normal). I take that as a good sign. Stabbing pain in breasts (I take that as a bad sign because this to me before AF; with pregnancy it's soreness in the breasts).
11dpo: Morning: BBT stayed higher (but I slept in, so no surprise). Light AF type of cramps, especially around left ovary. Afternoon/evening: Craving for sweet, nothing but sweet (bad sign, for me it’s always signaling AF). Increased cervical fluid. Midnight: Clear BFP with FRER!!!
In the hindsight, I must have ovulated on CD16, and this must be 12dpo (because we would have had a higher chance of conceiving if ovulation was sooner and because my BFP was pretty clear for 11dpo). CTP app would not agree with setting it to CD 16, so I left it at CD 17 on my chart.
With my age and thyroid problems, a BFP is only quarter of the battle. But I am still excited. If you believe, pray for me. If you want, send positive thoughts my way. I will be doing the same for all of you who are waiting for that BFP.
Good night!
